Definition
The smallest unit of work on a board — a thing one person does in a sitting or a day, usually a piece of a story — tracked to completion rather than estimated
Stories are what the user gets; tasks are what the team does to get there: write the migration, add the test, update the copy. A task has an owner and a done state and little else.
In GTD a task is a next action: the very next physical thing to do. The two vocabularies agree — a task that needs a meeting to start is not yet a task.
