Definition
A fixed, short timebox — one to four weeks — in which a team commits to a set of backlog items and ends with something reviewable
The fixed length is the discipline: scope flexes, the date does not. A sprint has a planning meeting at the start, a demo and a retrospective at the end, and a goal that is a sentence, not a list.
The word makes people run. The practice is closer to a metronome: the same interval, every time, so the team learns what it can actually finish in one.
