footer
<footer>, footer element, contentinfo landmarkDefinition
The element for closing content — at the page level, the site footer with the copyright, legal links and colophon, which is the contentinfo landmark; inside an <article>, that piece’s tags, related links or author note, which is not a landmark
The mirror of <header>, with the same rule about position deciding the role. The landing layout’s footer here (the site map, the social links, the legal bar) is the contentinfo landmark; the shell’s bottom bar with the shortcuts and the clock is one too, since it closes every page. The two footers whose rules did not align last week were both this element, which is why the fix was height and not markup.
The end of something, with the things that go at the end. What the copyright line is to the site, the related-terms row is to a glossary entry.
