Glossary Epic
Epic
AgileScrum
Definition
A body of work too large for one sprint, held as one item until it is broken into stories — the container, not the deliverable
Epics are how a backlog stays readable: a dozen stories about the same outcome roll up to one line. An epic is done when its stories are, never on its own.
The size limit is the definition. If it fits in a sprint it is a story; if it cannot be broken down it is not an epic, it is a wish.
