E2E Testing

Acronym
Also known as: end-to-end testing, end to end testing, e2e, e2e test, e2e tests
TechTesting

Definition

End-to-end — driving the built product the way a user does, in a real browser against a running server, and asserting on what the user would see

The slowest, most expensive and most convincing layer. Few of them, on the paths that matter; a red here is a real bug or a flaky test, and telling the two apart is the discipline.

Tech

The test that stands where the user stands. It knows nothing about modules and cannot say which one broke; what it can say is that the sign-in flow works, which no unit test can.

In this repository: Playwright, pnpm run test:e2e, against a dev server on :3100. A first run on a cold server cascades false reds — never report a first-run red without a re-run (docs/agents/environment-traps.md).
