What is UXLab?
UXLab is a content-first digital garden built on Nuxt 4 and Nuxt Content v3. It implements the GTD and PARA methodologies to help you organize projects, areas of responsibility, resources, notes and reference material.
Prerequisites
- Node.js v24 (see
.nvmrc) - pnpm (the only supported package manager)
- Git
- A code editor (VS Code recommended)
Quick Setup
# Clone and install (postinstall runs nuxt prepare)
git clone <repository-url>
cd uxlab
pnpm install
pnpm run db:migrate # apply Drizzle migrations to local SQLite
# Configure environment
cp .env.example .env
# Edit .env: set BETTER_AUTH_SECRET (32+ chars)
# Generate one with: openssl rand -base64 32
# Start development
pnpm dev
Visit http://localhost:3000 to see your digital garden.
Secrets are normally resolved from 1Password — use
pnpm dev:oponce configured. See Authentication for the full secret list.
First Steps
- Sign in - Go to
/login. Password auth is disabled; sign in via magic link, email/phone OTP, or GitHub OAuth (see Authentication) - Explore the dashboard - Use
Cmd+K(orCtrl+K) to open the command palette - Add your first note - Create a file in
content/notes/
Content Structure
Your content lives in the content/ folder:
