Weekly Review
the weekly review, reviewDefinition
In GTD, the standing appointment — once a week, an hour or two — where every inbox is emptied, every project is checked for a next action, the calendar is read two weeks back and two forward, and the someday/maybe list is looked at; the habit that keeps the rest of the system trustworthy
Allen calls it the critical success factor, because a system nobody reviews is a system nobody trusts, and an untrusted system goes back into the head. Get clear (collect and process), get current (update the lists), get creative (look further out). This site's Review page and its review gate are the same idea applied to publishing: what is held, oldest first, with a verdict per item.
Not planning — maintenance. The week's plan comes out of it, but the point is that every open loop was looked at by someone who could close it, so that for another week none of them has to be carried in the head.
