Productivity consultant, author of Getting Things Done
Productivity consultant and author who created GTD, the capture-clarify-organize-reflect-engage method this site's planning side runs on
Why I Follow
GTD is the working half of this site: the inbox, next actions, waiting-for, someday/maybe, the weekly review. Allen's book published it in 2001, and a revised edition followed in 2015.
Key Ideas
- Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them — capture everything in a trusted system outside your head
- Clarify before you organize — decide what a thing is, and what the very next physical action on it would be
- The two-minute rule — if it takes less than two minutes, do it now
- The weekly review — the habit that keeps the system trusted
When I Reference
- Processing an inbox to zero
- Deciding whether something is a project or a single next action
- Running the weekly review
