A matrix used to clarify roles and responsibilities in projects and processes.
Responsible, Approve, Consulted, Informed
Variant used in some organizations where "Approve" replaces "Accountable".
RACI is a responsibility assignment matrix that describes the participation by various roles in completing tasks or deliverables for a project or business process.
The Four Roles
- R - Responsible: The person(s) who does the work to complete the task
- A - Accountable: The person ultimately answerable for the correct completion (only one per task)
- C - Consulted: People whose opinions are sought; two-way communication
- I - Informed: People kept up-to-date on progress; one-way communication
Variants
- RASCI: Adds "Supportive" role for those who provide resources
- RACI-VS: Adds "Verifier" and "Signatory" roles
- CAIRO: Adds "Omitted" for explicitly excluded parties
