Definition

Optional Component Schema data that a page scanner uses to find likely instances of the component on a page it knows nothing about: native elements, the ARIA pattern's required attributes with a minimum sibling cluster, and class or id keywords

Introduced so an agent can recognize, say, an accordion on a legacy site without a hand-written mapping file per site. Native elements (<details>) are the strongest signal, an ARIA cluster is strong, and keywords are weak tie-breakers. The scanner also clicks inline-handled elements to see whether hidden content appears. Results are ranked candidates with evidence, so a person still reviews them.

Design System

How a schema says "this is what I look like in the wild". A captured estate is the natural source for the keywords: the classes production actually authors.
