Shape
content shape, slots, slotDefinitions
The section of a Component Schema that declares a component's authored content: its fields, their order, what repeats, and which fields can hold other components
Renamed from slots on 2026-09-30, because the section describes what renders, not only the composable holes. A field belongs in shape when its values are unbounded and author-supplied (a header, a body, a label), which is also what a localization pipeline translates. A repeating structure is an array key such as items[], and its singular (item) becomes the scope key that props and states use. A field of type composable is what was informally called a slot.
The nearest cwds counterpart is a Component Contract's anatomy, which lists every part a component was observed to have
Anatomy is wider than shape. It also holds configuration (default-open) and opaque passthroughs (custom classes), which the Component Schema places under props or leaves out. Mapping anatomy onto shape is mostly renaming plus sorting each part by the boundedness test.
What an instance says, as opposed to how it is configured. Shape answers "what does this one contain?", asked repeatedly by a content author. Props answer "how is it set up?", asked once.
