Design System

Definition

The single brand-agnostic, technology-silent source of truth that defines what every reusable piece of a design system is — its values, structure, content shape and approved compositions — without any brand's actual values or any platform's code

A specification, not an implementation. It holds tokens, component schemas, content models, patterns and the governance metadata over them; brand instances and adapters consume it and are not part of it. This repository's architecture notes call it the canonical contract layer; cwds calls it the Component Contract records and the authored token layer. One idea, three names.

Design System

The layer that has no opinion about EDS, AEM, Figma or email. That silence is the design: an adapter can be added without touching it, and a brand can diverge without rewriting it.
