Changelog
change log, CHANGELOG.md, keep a changelogDefinition
A curated, chronological record of notable changes to a project, written for the people who use it: one section per version, newest first, each with its release date
Keep a Changelog sets out the convention. Changes are grouped as Added, Changed, Deprecated, Removed, Fixed and Security. An Unreleased section at the top collects what is coming, and its entries move into a new version section at release. It recommends stating whether the project follows Semantic Versioning, without requiring it. Versions 1.0.0 and 1.1.x share the same principles and change types; 1.1.x is current.
"Changelogs are for humans, not machines" is its first principle, and the reason a dump of commit messages is not one. Conventional Commits can generate a draft from history, but the curation step is what makes it a changelog. Reference: keepachangelog.com, v1.0.0.
