Definition

Search engine optimization — making a page understandable and worth ranking to a search engine: a title and description that say what it is, one canonical URL, structured markup, fast rendering, and links from pages that matter

Here it is mostly done by construction: server-rendered HTML, one title template, canonical and Open Graph tags from the SEO module, a sitemap generated at build, and a share card for every page. The remaining lever is the writing — a description that is a sentence, not a keyword list — and Search Console, which says which queries actually arrive.

Tech

Being findable by a machine that reads pages for people. Most of it is doing the ordinary things — real HTML, one URL per thing, honest titles — and then finding out from Search Console what the machine thought.

The first of three rungs, each named for what the engine does with the page: SEO ranks it among the links, AEO lifts a passage from it as the answer, GEO has a model understand and cite it. The same page can climb all three; what changes is the unit — the page, then the passage, then the claim.
