Look record

Also known as: look, action emphasis, shared look, look contract
Design SystemCWDS

Definitions

A proposed schema file that holds the treatments and token contract shared by more than one component, with no kind, shape or states of its own; components name it instead of each repeating the same touchpoints

Proposed 2026-10-01 for Button and Link, which wear one look, Action Emphasis (primary, secondary, tertiary). The Core's meta-schema doesn't accept it yet, because every schema file needs a kind, shape and states. Without it, Button and Link each repeat the same sixteen touchpoints, or leave their token contracts empty. It needs the Core author's agreement before a file using it can validate.

Design System

The record cwds keeps for a look shared by several components: Action Emphasis, which owns the treatments, the token contract, the size axis and the fidelity history, while Button and Link have empty token contracts

Created 2026-10-01 when the Buttons record was split (cwds #73, ADR-0017's amendment). It records a look and no kind. The look record proposed to the Core is the same idea in the schema's form.

CWDS

The appearance two components share, written down once. A Button acts and a Link goes somewhere, and both wear the same primary, secondary and tertiary looks.
