The software around the model that turns it into an agent — the loop, the tools, the permissions, the context management — as distinct from the model itself

Claude Code is a harness; the model inside it is what reasons. Most of what makes a session go well or badly — what the agent can see, what it is allowed to run, when its context is compacted — is the harness's doing.
