Figma MCP server

Also known as: figma mcp, dev mode mcp server, figma mcp-server

Definition

Figma’s Model Context Protocol server — a local or remote endpoint an AI coding agent connects to, which hands the agent the design context for a selected node (its structure, variables, styles, components, and the Code Connect mapping where one exists) and, in the other direction, lets the agent create and update nodes in a file

The round trip. Pulling: an agent in the editor asks for the selection and gets the variables and component names rather than a screenshot to guess from, which is the difference between generated markup that uses --color-action and generated markup that hardcodes a hex. Pushing: the same connection can write frames back, so a page built in code can be reflected into a file for a designer to react to. It runs against Dev Mode and is most useful where Code Connect has been set up, because that is what turns this is a button into this is <UButton> in your repository. This garden drives it through the Figma plugin’s skills; the estate work uses it to read the CWDS file.

Figma

An agent that can see the design file is a different collaborator from one that can see a PNG of it. The server is that difference, and Code Connect is what makes what it sees say your component names back to you.
