Glossary Ephemeral
Ephemeral
Tech
Definition
Existing only for the duration of one use — an environment stood up for a pull request and torn down on merge, a container that keeps nothing between runs, state that lives in memory and dies with the process
Ephemeral things are cheap to make and safe to lose, which is the point: anything that has to survive is made to live elsewhere, on purpose, and the boundary is explicit.
Made to be thrown away. The discipline is deciding what is not ephemeral — the database, the migration history, the content — and keeping that list short and named.
In this repository: the next environment is rebuilt on every push to
develop; its Turso database is not, and that is the whole reason
migrations are the source of truth.
